Andrea Micheletti

Glass as a natural material: it also exists in nature produced by volcanic eruptions or even a lightning strike that falls on a beach can form glass. It originates from fluvial and marine sands and is obtained by melting three different materials: silica, soda and calcium (basically heated and then cooled sand). Its history accompanies that of man since ancient times: Egyptians and Phoenicians already used it to preserve food.

Today it is industrially produced and has entered our lives: windows, light bulbs, bottles, mirrors and lenses.

The end of these objects is the beginning of my work.

Progetto FLOAT is born from the recovery of glass sheets removed from old windows where they are cleaned, cut, ground and remodeled by melting at a temperature of 830 °.

My work stems from the need to create a physical reality from reuse. Which means not only the ability to use the hands, to use the tools, to master the techniques, but above all the affirmation of the possibility of thinking and manifesting in a real physical form something that previously existed in another form, revealing to him the enormous potential that brings him closer to the divine: this is a wonderful dimension, an 'initiatory' experience that the FLOAT work can make me feel, contributing to my spiritual elevation.
